We have been fishing on all sides of Mercer Island for perch for the last 2 weeks and found huge schools. As you can see on the depth finder picture the schools are sometimes so thick that we cannot read the bottom. Last week the fish were in the 40 to 45 ft range but today we had to fish between 45 to 50 ft to find the schools. The size is not the same for us as the last 2 years as we have only caught 2 perch over 10". My brother is holding one of them at 12". Previous years we did not have to keep any that were less than 10". This evening we cleaned 60 perch and stuffed 3 quart bags. Great eating!!

We were drop shotting with the weight a 1oz lure (Pt Wilson type lure) baited with a piece of perch. The drop shot hook is tied with a Huckabee Knot (check YouTube) and baited about 16" above weight. Great time to get the kids out there if you can catch a break in the rain.

My boys want to go out this weekend for perch. I was going to go try Magnuson Park area but maybe we'll head to Mercer (closer) instead. Are you fishing in 40-50' of water or in deeper water at about 40-50'? What side was the best if you don't mind me asking?

You use worms, fish in the 40-60ft. water. In the winter perch go deeper. Use a fish finder.
