My plans were to fish Lake Washington but they fell through so I went closer to home. This is good because I needed to mow the lawn!
I got to the lake around 7:30am and there were only 2 other rigs. It took me close to 15 minutes just to get the main motor started. I think I started about 8:15am.
I went to the north east side of the island to start my troll. And troll. And troll. It was at 9:30 when I got my first bite but I thought I had my other dodger.
I was trying to maneuver away from a boater who wasn’t looking where he was going. I was trolling 30-35 foot down and was intending to follow the 60-70 foot depth but was forced into 39 feet of water. So both downriggers had to come up. I was concerned about weeds so I brought one rig in and checked and deployed it back out and down to 26 feet since I was only in 45 feet of water. I went over to my other rod to let it back to 30 since I was in the 50’s now. Looked back and seen the first rod had released. I started reeling and it felt like I had got my other dodger.
I bring it in and there is a fish! It sees the boat and starts fighting like crazy. I held the line on the reel and lofted it over the gunnel into the splash well then into the boat. Ugly fish but it looks close to a record for me but just tied it at 17 inches. Thank you guy for not paying attention otherwise I would have been too deep.
Therefore I keep the downrigger above 30 feet and went from deep water to 30’s feet deep. I kept going in toward shore then out to deeper water. I got another one that way just after 10am. I went back through both areas that I hooked fish but didn’t find any others willing to bite.

This morning was cold enough to numb my fingers but it warmed up to about 60. The air was calm with the water temperature 57.7 almost every location I was. It did get to 57.8 at one point.
I switched dodgers and lures but the one that caught the fish was Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger with Wannafish A Lure Pink Splatter Squiddy Thing. I filleted out the fish and the meat was still firm with good color. One fish was just starting to get a rosy blush on part of it. I finished fishing about 11am.

We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.

Very nice pair of kokes! Looks like they will make for some fine eating.
