Fished Cda Lake again yesterday with the Packernut. We had a great day on the water. Overcast skys all day with only a few minutes of rain right in the beginning. The wind cooperated real well for us by only showing up once in a while and not blowing hard at all.
We got a total of 11 pike with 6 going 30" or bigger. No monsters made it to the boat but we did have 4 nice big fish roll on the bait that didn't hook up. Maybe I'll get those next weekend.
Fish were caught on spinnerbaits, long narrow crankbaits, and a new bait to me, the Big Hammer Swimbait. All fish were on the edges of weed beds again in 6 to 12 feet of water. Water temps have ben going down a few degrees every week. Yesterdays temps were 57 to 59 degrees.
Check out the difference in coloring on these two fish. One is very silvery and the other is more of the traditional pike coloring. I see this quite often and it stil makes me wonder if there is more than one strain or type of pike in this water.
We ran in to a boat with 3 fellow Washington Lakes readers from the Seattle area first thing in the morning. I hope they had as much fun as we did. By the way, to the guy from Seattle. If you are reading this, I was trying to throw that frog bait on the front of your boat so you could see it. I wasn't trying to throw it right at you. Nice catch by the way. :)
