This is a report for the last week ( 4 trips out total, averaging 2-3 hrs). Here's the lowdown, water is now down to about 66 degrees. Trout starting to average 12-13 inches, these are the triploids that were 6-7 inches in june that avista had planted. Picked up a few smallmouth about 12 inches on sat. A limit of trout on Friday and almost 2 limits on sat. A few perch starting to bite, but it has not taken off yet. This is all a trolling show with shad raps, cotton cordell mostly in perch patterns. Trolling outside weed edges in sportsman cove about 1.5 to 2 mph. The big surprise was catching 1 walleye each on two of my trips last week, a 14 inch and a 17 inch. I know for a fact that 4 other walleye have been caught by other people this summer, they averaged 11 inches to 7 lbs. Weird that I haven't changed my fishing tactics and all of a sudden I'm catching walleye that supposedly don't exist. The other dynamic is their size is all over the place. My pics are on my phone and i'll get them posted to prove the walleye, might take another posting involving emails etc, I'm still getting the hang of this technology stuff. I'd rather fish than play with electronics. The trout are starting to turn some orange but not up to roosevelts standard yet. Normally when the lake cools I catch a lot of 3/4 pound to 1 pound perch with squaws and a few bass mixed in. I save the squaws for crab bait and there doesn't seem to be quite as many as there used to be. The bite is very slow from about 1230 to 2 pm, unfortunately that seems to be part of my time on the lake. ok phone is dead I will post photos tomorrow because I too have heard "reports of walley caught on long lake".
