Bottom Fishing From Shore
Rainbow Trout

Another day in the trout lake, another day with no trout. In fact, another day when no one caught a trout.

I was there from 6 am to 4pm, give or take. As is the usual, powerbait for trout went unbitten, worms on the bottom for perch were successful. Although a lot fewer bites than last weekend. But, the guys fishing for trout with powerbait + worm were also catching perch. My nine plus another 4 or 5 were landed.

Early in the morning, myself and another gentleman, me with a plastic worm, him with a nightcrawler, both landed what I think is a smallmouth in the picture. Both about 9 inches. As you can see, I also got my usual 1 in 10 nine inch perch, and 1 in 10 eight inch perch. Larger ones mostly are a little deeper, but the 7 inchers are not there with them, so it is a LONG wait between bites.

I wish it hadn't rained so much, but it is what it is I suppose.

Again, good day fishing, but no 5 star if I dont land a trout, I dont care how many perch I get.

That is a large mouth bass. Smallies usually have vertical bars across their face and sometimes their whole body. Nice catch though. Perch are some of the best freshwater eating but a pain to clean.
