On a whim I went to this lake on Saturday morning. I started at Larsen and caught the usual, but all was too small so I threw it all back. I was going to go put my raft in Phantom, but decided what the heck, I'll drive down and take a look at Boren.

BIG MISTAKE.

First off, looking at Google maps, one would think that it has decent access. WRONG. I drove past it, doubled back, took the wrong turn, doubled back, finally saw the sign, pulled into the park ... and the parking isn't anywhere near the lake. I'm talking 500-600 feet away. So I drove to the other end of the lake. There, there is parking 50 feet from the dock ... but marked for park vehicles only. So I drove BACK to the other end of the lake and hiked.

Now the dock, although rickety, goes out to deep water, which is rare. And the water is very clear, which allows visibility of what seems to be ideal underwater structure. Almost as if it was manicured. But there is, quite literally, nothing in this lake at 10am. Worm on the bottom at various depths, plastic worm for bass at various depths, nothing. Not a single bite.

I left after about 90 minutes. I wont be returning. I would give this lake a zero if it were an option.

I've had no luck with this lake either. I saw a guy catch a small perch once with a worm near the shallows. Last time one guy caught a small rainbow trout after 3+ hours.
