My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a uncle of mine to the lake for a day of great memories. The day before this trip we laid to rest one of my other uncles. Since I was young enough to remember my mothers six brothers would include me on there fishing and hunting trips and now at age 59 its my pleasure to take him out and rekindle the memories and share stories from years and years of different trips. It had been about 20 years since our last fishing trip together and Lake Wenatchee Sockeye seemed to be the perfect spot. We were on the water about 6:30 and wanted to fish the south shore where my wife and I had done so well on our last few trips, but the wind was blowing too hard to fish the open part of the lake. So we headed to the end of the lake with the other hand full of boats out that day. The first hour my wife had four in the boat and my uncle had two also lost a few. Then the high light of the day, comparing how many fish we had against how many Mike Carey had( It was great to see ya Mike). By 1:30 my wife had boated one more fish and we had all the wind we needed we called it a day. This week has reminded me that if I am going fishing to just see had many fish I can get in the boat and how fast I can do it, then I'm there for the wrong reasons. There is so much to be thankful for on these trips, I need to just slow down and enjoy them.
