Decided to squeeze in some fishing before the rains came. Headed to Clear lake. I have been wanting to explore this lake a little more. caught a 3 pounder earlier in the spring here so I know there a some nice bass in here. launched at about 1100 and there was no one on the water. guess the weather report had everyone scared. started shallow kinda. fished a dock that extended into about 12 ft caught a small one then the wife caught a small largemouth about a pound. could see a really nice one under the dock 2-3 lb largemouth that would not take anything. moved a little deeper 18-20 ft and caught several small smallmouth 12-13 in. and one more largemouth that the wife caught again. By about 3:30 the wind picked up and the sky got dark right on schedule. then the thunder started and we decided it would be best to head out since neither of us like electrocution good thing cause on the way back to the ramp the lightning started. while strapping down the boat it looked like a bolt of lightning nearly came down on the lake. some young guy waiting to launch his boat as we were pulling out not sure what he was thinking. hope he was ok out there. all in all not bad for the short time on the water just no big ones. there were fingerlings swimming everywhere. have to explore this lake some more.
