Early morning bite. By 10:00 am it was pretty much over but until then WOW great day. Trolling jointed Rapala with orange belly near weeds. Caught 3 eyes 26-28" 3 eyes 20-22" and several 3 lb smallmouth and numerous walleye that would be keepers but seemed small. All of the bigger fish weighted 5.75 to 5.9 lbs.
#5 jointed Rapalas with orange belly. Trolled @ 1.3 mph near weeds. Depth was 12 " near weed patches that come close to the surface. The weeds are a constant hassle but that is where the mature fish are.

Thanks for the post. Planning to hit Banks sometime this next week. If you don't mind sharing—what area did you fish? Northern/Southern? Been hearing the south end has been hot.

Sure happy to share. I was fishing the south end around goose island. I don't think the location was as important as the weeds. Find weeds and you will find walleye. If you know of good flats with weeds give it a shot. I have had similar results on Tuesday, Friday and again today Sunday.
I do not even take night crawlers because I am dedicated to trolling cranks. If you care to try that use a bait with orange belly. The #4 jointed shad rap in a crawdad with bright orange belly is a good start. Todays best 5 legal fish weighted 18.25 lbs.
