Fished west side of Mattoon late afternoon into early evening.
Puffed crawlers and Powerbait off bottom (weedy) and crawlers below bobber.
Quick action from pesky Sunfish and small Rainbows. Enjoyed the Wildlife
Show--a large hawk winged over the lake for quite a while, making numerous
"practice swoops". A muskrat swam past a few feet offshore,
a recently planted Rainbow firmly in jaws.
A mellow place! Disappointed at large amount of trash at spot I
fished-bottles, cans, fast-food wrappers, clumps of fishing line, even a
used condom! And don't recall seeing a trash receptacle along that obviously
heavily-used shoreline. What gives with the lack of upkeep in those
Ellensburg-area lakes?!
