This is actually a two day report. Monday the 5th. Lots of action early as we had 10 in the box by 8:45. Last fish came around 11:00 so we did have long dry spell. Fish and wildlife checked our license, hooks and catch cards. We chatted a little and off they went. Started fishing around 5:40 due to long line at the state park. Water was flat all morning.
Day 2 . Shorter line at the launch and were fishing by 5:25 but there wasn't much of an early bite today. We did get two back to back around 6:00 then things went quiet. Had to work for them today. Wind picked up by 7:30 and got stronger all morning. We kept at it and ended with 7 around noon. Short leaders with red hooks have been working great again this week. We did have double on late in the morning but due to trying to control the boat with the wind and fighting the fish we only got one in. The other one came off at the boat.
So far this season I would say the calm days have had a much better bite that the windy ones. Still an amazing run when normally you would only be able to keep 2 sockeye per day. Anything above that it truly a blessing. Oh the fish may have a little blush on them now compared to two weeks ago but the meat is still great. This year is one for the memory books. Still plenty of fish for you to catch.

Will this be possible from a personal pontoon boat (kicker boat)

We have seen a couple out there at times. But you would have to put in at Glacierview campground as I don't think there is any public access other than the state park which is on the opposite end of the lake you need to fish. You don't need to be moving very fast as we run about 1.0 mph. The main limiting factor is it would need to be calm in the morning other wise you will end up at the state park. Guys fish with banana weights but I don't know how much they put on as we use downriggers.

45 to 60 feet down. Yes we are using downriggers. You will see them stacked on your fish finder. As the morning goes on move deeper to the 55 then 60 foot.
