we were staying at the campground at grandy and when we first got the we fished from a popular shore spot about half an hour and only got 1 tiny guy but kept it. it was a pumpkinseed ( pretty sure). went back later that day from a small raft. paddled to a log and casted with worm and bobber from the log and caught 4 or 5. i caught 2 which were my very first bluegill and pumpkinseed. we cooked those over the campfire and ate them for dinner. yum. then went from a different shore spot and got 8 pumpkinseed and bluegill mix. very pretty fish.
8/2...went from that same log again today and caught only and few but then moved a tiny bit and caught 8 bluegill and pumpkinseed combined and 1 small bass in there too. all fish on worm chunk and bobber. bobber anywhere from 1.5 to 3 feet from hook. caught all in small pockets of open in the middle of the weeds and could see them bite. it was kind of like sight fishing. casting around rising fish was also good. pretty sure that the bottom fish in image 1 is the bluegil...at least i think it is.l

Those are both pumpkinseed sunfish.
Bluegill have all black operable (little appendage at the rear of the gill plate). If it has red on the opercle it's most likely a pumpkinseed, but definitely not a bluegill. Nearly all of the sunfish in this area are either bluegill or pumpkinseed. Crappy are of the same family, but have more obvious differences.
