Sort of felt like DJ Butler in his report like one of those days I should have just slept in and got some other things done today but alas, with this my last weekend of bachelorhood could not resist the urge to get back on the water! So was up at 5:30 but did take my time trying to figure out where to go and knew once again, today would be a crowded one no matter what I chose so figured my best bet at at least being able to stay out longer would be Lake WA of course!

Got to the launch about 6:30 am but this time there were already about 8 rigs parked and on the water so this told me today may be a little different then yesterday which was really void of boaters until about 2 pm. Was a bit cloudy and a little breeze from the west was blowing so headed straight across and started my troll north with the ace hi-fly on and a red/orange sling blade but tipped with some cured prawn tails for something different.

Before I got the first buoy saw my rod tip do little tap dance so quickly grabbed the rod and popped it off the clip and it was fish on! Felt a little more like a kokanee but when I got it in, was about a 14" cutthroat and was not hooked too bad, so carefully removed the hook and let her go back to get bigger.

Went with the same set up again and made the turn by the other set of buoy's before had it do another little tap tap. Popped it off the clip and felt another fish on but was fighting harder and also felt more like a kokanee so eased it in as bast I could but still managed to do a few jumps out of the water before sliding the net under it. It was a nice fat one and just about 13" so things looked like they were going good!

Well it went down hill from there as pretty soon a flotilla of boats starting passing every couple minutes and jet skiers, water skiers. wake boarders, you name it were out in force which had me running across to Seward park to try and get away from them. Well not much better there either so finally about 1:30 and getting tossed from side to side in my boat made the dash for the boat launch. Was lucky enough to see a spot to get in and quickly ran up to the truck and had the Tin cup on the trailer heading home to get it ready for the salt tomorrow as I am taking out Danny and Alycia (schu7498) for some area 11 fishing luck!

See you on the water!

Haha at least you caught a fish! It was rough out there plus I was tired. Double lose for me. Nice fish though! Thanks for the report

That is why ... I get off the lake in June ish .... Depending on weather. A guy trolling slowly can get run over really quick if we don't pay attention. Plus when the wind kicks up, and add all the boat wakes, it can get really really rough. I'm on the Salt now. Headed for the Straits pretty soon.
