Heard a rumor about Lake Trout (Mackinaw) up on Snoqualmie Pass, and
since the Salmon Fishing has been a bit slow we decided to take trip up
there and try it out since we usually fish for Macks in MT, on our yearly
trip.

Hour and a half from Renton we were on the lake. We started with spoons
at 100ft and before I could sit down my girlfriend had a nice one on. Got it
up and it weighed out at 8.5, snapped a pic and let her go. We re-rigged,
sat down, and wham, her pole again. She set the hook and it came off, so she
jigged it a bit and DOUBLE WHAM, and she was hooked up. 10 minutes later she
got it in and it pushed 10.5 lbs 33 inches. Amazed by the fish, I went in
first, down to 100, and she went to 85. 2 minutes pass and she's popped off
the down rigger again but this time there was no reeling this fish in. It
ran and ran and ran almost spooling her 8lb test filled light action reel
and pole. After the run it was a good 5 minutes of tugging before she could
even reel any line in. 10 minutes later I netted her monstrous Mackinaw.
15lb 8oz beauty, but I didn't get a tape on it cuz I was in shock. It was
close to 40" though. We ended the day up with 3 more macks ranging from 4lbs
to 7lbs. It was an unbelievable day, that's why I bring a camera everywhere
I go. Just in case of "One of those Days" and for the people with any doubt.
It sure beats the endless wait of slow salmon fishing, with almost the same
result....BIG FISH!!!!!!
Check the pics out if you would like too.

*Editor's note: I checked my resource book and sure enough there are macks in this lake. Looks I might have to do a little exploring!
