The wife and I got to the boat launch around 3-ish. We were targeting perch and catfish. Got the first bite around 20 minutes in, turns out to be a nice 13" rainbow. No action for another hour or so, so we decided to go swimming.

The water was nice and warm, but dirty. Probably won't swim this lake again. After about an hour or so we toweled off and got our lines back in the water.

By now it's around 6, and the fishing started to pick up slightly. We got into a school of decent-size perch and kept 3 over the course of an hour and a half, plus one more 12" trout. I'm pretty sure these were wild trout, as they didn't have a clipped fin and when cleaned the meat was a beautiful pink rather than the hatchery white.

The bite died after that, save for several worm-wasting baby perch. Not a fast action day and no cats, but the weather was nice and we saw a pair of otters plus an osprey and a juvenile bald eagle, so it was a fun day out. We left around 9:30.

Also, while we were swimming, a little pumpkinseed took an interest in the wife's feet! Every time she wiggled her toes, the fearless little thing charged and bonked his little face against her water shoes. Hilarious! She must have teased him for a good 15 minutes.

Last week we were there for about the same length of time and got a trout, 3 perch, and 3 real nice bullheads. I'm certainly getting to like this lake!

Nice job! Question though, I've only caught one catfish in this lake and I was wondering what your technique was to catch them here.

Jacob, I was catching them on your standard trout rig consisting of an egg sinker, bead, snap swivel, and leader with #6 Gamakatsu octopus hook. For the catfish the leader was around 18"-24", baited with an orange garlic marshmallow to float half a large nightcrawler.
