My son who just graduated high school last week wanted to get some fishing in so we hooked up the boat and headed to American for some kokanee. Got there around 11 am or so and headed straight across and started trolling took a few minutes for the boy to remeber how to hook up the DR and get it all set. After that we were on out way, there were a few people out fishing and they were dipping the nets so I was hoping we could figure out the pattern and get our net wet to. After two passes the boy say hey is that a bite?? The pole is just pulling hard and dancing and I am hmmm up!! Now grab it and he is bring it in and I tell him point the tip that way and he is like I am trying.....ok. I grab the net and he gets it to the boat and I scoop it up and one nice koke in the boat and he is all smiles.
Reset the gear and headed around to make another pass as we were driving in circles just as the other boats were. We make a few more passes and in the same spot agian his pole is dancing....I told him that has been my lucky pole out here and he says it working for me....he reel's in another nice kokanee and in the box it goes. After a few more passes and no bites we head northeast and try our luck over there and see what can happen. Well no kokes but a few rainbows and some other drive by's and lost a few koke's I think four you could tell the were koke's as they were very heavy compaired to the small RB we were getting. After a few hours my pole starts going to town and its a nice koke at the boat and I grab the net and one more for the box. Now my boy is hmm what are you using?? I told him same thing you are...oh. Another few passes on the north end of the lake and another nice fat koke in the cooler.
Alll in all a great day on the water the sun came out and we watched the miltary do some para jumping into American lake out of helicopters they must of did it six or seven times what a show. They kept getting higher and higher every pass. We came home with four koke's and four RB and a smiles all around. Tight lines all.
All fish were caught between 15-55 ft on the DR using Toni's wana fish a lure. All the colors of the rainbow worked today and none were sticking out more then another but pink was good to us. Thanks, Eric
