Headed north to give Gissberg a try. Arrived just before 5:00 AM, lines in the water by 5:15. Cloudy, temp was 57 degrees, not a breeze... lake a flat calm. Water temp at the shoreline was 68 degrees. Started with fl. orange Power Egg on one rig, pink with white tail "Mice Tail" on the other... 4' leaders. Nothing until just about 6:00, when the P&W MT rod starts dancing... reeled in my first, a 11" Rainbow. Half hour later, PE rod doubles over and I reeled in a feisty, almost 16" trip. About 8:00, another on the MT, then nothing for another hour. About 9:00, getting bored a bit, so changed up to spin casting a f4 frog flatfish... C&R three Rainbows in the 12" vicinity... in 30 minutes. About 10:15, picked up my fourth keeper on chartreuse PE, a feisty 13" er. Then nothing... had planned on leaving by 11:30, so tied on an f4 flatfish in perchscale and fifth cast, fish on! and reeled in my fifth, another 12" Rainbow.
Not a "hot" day by anyone's standards, but a truly great morning of fishing... weather was fantastic, cloudy but mild... off and on breeze from the south.
Lots of fishermen showing up about 7:00, saw several other fish landed in the time I was at the lake. PTL!
