Haven't done a post in awhile due to computer issues and watching our grandson's play ball! Me and the Mrs. thought we'd pick some lakes this year that we haven't fished yet, hit curlew a couple of weeks ago and Banks today. Wasn't too sure about the weather heading over but turned out to be a great day, but very windy! What beautiful lake and surrounding views! Launched at Steamboat State park around noon, headed south mainly fishing the southern part of the Devils Punch bowl. Took us a little bit to locate the bass but once we did, and established a pattern we boated about 15 fish in a few hours of fishing. We found most of them on the edges of the tall green cat tail grass, and a couple in the reed grass that is most prominent along the edges and points. Most caught on a Zoom 8" black grape lizard rigged Texas style with no weight. All went in the 2.5-3lb range with a few dink smallies and one pike minnow. I lost a huge lmb at the side of the boat that busted my 15lb power pro line! URGGG! Was great to have our younger son with us today, he finally nailed a few too!

So glad to see your still with us. I missed your reports. Haven't been to steamboat in probably 6 years. We used to catch some really nice walleye there. Tight lines.

Nice going Jim. Good to see you're still out there catching bass. Don't forget the Old POR. There is still a very good bass fishery up there in your old fishing grounds. Even if the pike are gone.

Yep Mark, I'm still out here, catching a few Bass here and there, at least this year! Last year, not so much, but that's another story about my unsuccessful attempt at the bass tourney circuit! Man those kids have some money wrapped up in those boats and the technology, sheesh! Makes me feel old! And no, I haven't forgotten to good old POR, some of my best outings were catching Pike up there! Saw where they still did the gill nets this past spring so I'm not sure I'll go. I see your still slaying the Pike at the chain lakes!
