My girlfriend and I headed to Lost Lake to get out of town and try and catch some trout. I spent many high school camping trips at Lost Lake in the early nineties and it’s nice to know that it’s a stocked lake now as the scenery is gorgeous. There were only a few campers and a few we couldn’t see, but could hear, shooting off firearms at the far side of the lake. We caught three chunky triploids in about two hours from shore with powerbait off the bottom. I started throwing a Mepps spinner about twenty minutes before we left and got some nice hits but nothing hooked. I would like to launch a pontoon there at some point and get off the bank. It was a nice trip on a nice day, although the garbage left at that lake harshes the experience a bit. There were multiple abandoned tents and large garbage piles strewn about. I believe the feds are responsible for cleaning up the site and they’re doing a less than stellar job, with likely limited resources. I’d be more willing to take the pick-up up there and help get rid of some of the major piles if they made it a pay site that was monitored better.

I used to hit that lake alot.It has alot of naturally reproducing brook trout in there.I gave up going there because of all the insane party goers there.Pretty much all extremely drunk or high. One year they busted a group of foreigners with a huge cooler full of triploid trout.I started fishing Kachess instead.
