Got on the lake and began fishing at 8:45. Tried trolling from the launch around the north end of the lake, no good. The lake is very shallow and weedy at that end. Still fishing is the way to go in that lake. Fished the west side in several spots, 50 - 60 feet from shore. Picked up of few fish in each spot including the first triploid 14" The lake deepens towards the south end. We each [2 fishermen] had three 10-12" bows when we anchored at the last spot where I cast a Gulp orange garlic egg with a ball of green PowerBait paste. Got a slight hit that I missed whereas the others were bam! Pulled up my rig to check the bait and felt like I was pulling my sinker thru the bottom weeds and then it took off stripping line. In the boat it was 15-1/4" two pound triploid. My first, I was "done for the day" My brother in-law said give me a couple more casts, five minutes. Bam, he hooked into another 15" tail dancing triploid. It took awhile to find 'em but we got the combination right. Not to mention I saw in the top of the water a dorsal fin and tail of one that had to be 2-3 feet in length confirmed by my brother in-law when he saw the head surfacing. The Lake Erie Monster.
