Tough fishing. I fished the evening of the 29th behind the Spokane house. That's a joke at this point. The dam's still wide open, and the current is still a wee bit strong. I had 1 fish chase my crank bait I was throwing in an hour. Threw every piece of hard plastic I had at them, nothing.
I went further down past the public launch and walked down to the bank on a turnout. I've had success in this bay before, but I didn't even get a taker. Fish were surfacing about 20 yards further out than I was casting, out in the seems of the current. I was again throwing plugs, and cranks for an hour with no success.
I then went back towards the public launch and pulled off by the guardrail where the Little spokane meets the big body of water. I jigged the bottom with a 3/8 oz. jig and swirly tail. Hey, it works on Roosevelt, right? Eurica, in 1 hr. I was able to manage a 10" smally (I think) near the shore. It came unbuttoned at the shoreline.
Tomorrow, I plan on going back to the bay I was at early in the am, and jigging more. I think the water temp. may still be a little cool to get fish on the hard plastics. Hoping for better success on the jig tomorrow.
