After going to the PSA meeting last night (late for me)I decided that I would sleep until I woke up then go to Clear Lake.
I was on the lake about 7am and first kokanee in the boat at 7:15am. Then nothing but a few bites for close to 40 minutes. The strange thing about this first fish was that I had pulled 25 pulls out and was doing something with the downrigger ball so I set the rod in the rod holder. When I went to get it to put it in the clip it was dancing and I thought, ugh rainbow. Got it close to the boat and it was a kokanee. On the surface. So I tried to duplicate it, which didn’t happen. I was in the area (north side of the lake) that I was on Monday and Tuesday. Nothing more happened so I went to the south side of the lake.
I was in the 70’s feet deep area on the south side and I was checking what my GPS android app said my speed was. On my electric motor 3, I was going 1.3 mph. So I went to 4 and it went to 1.5 and I got a kokanee. I lowered my stacked rod down the same depth. I was bleeding the fish in the net and got another one. Scooped it in the net with the bleeder. Got them put in the ice chest and sent it down to 26 feet and turned speed to 4 and got number 4 in. Let the rod down again and speed to 4 and had my limit at 8:15am. They were all real close to 11 inches.
I changed my gear one time before going to the south side of the lake. I used Dick Nite Dodgers with Squiddy Thang Pink Mini to that top water fish and Pink Splatter Squiddy, and Pretty in Chartreuse without the yarn caught the rest of the fish. It was a cloudy day with the promise of a nice weekend coming up.
