Family and friends spent Memorial Day weekend camped out at Pearrygin Lake State Park.

I fished Friday (5/23) AM and Sunday (5/25) afternoon. In a nutshell, the trout were plentiful and hungry.

I fished a variety of gear beginning with flatfish plugs on Friday. The F5 frog was top producer Friday with the F7 chrome not too far behind. I fished the F7 with a 1/2 oz rubber core sinker and the F5 with a couple large split shot to get them to depth. Both fished on flat lines with 60 - 90 foot set backs. Best speed was about 1.5 - 1.6. This combo produced at least 6 doubles (landed both on at least 5) and I probably had 20 - 30 all C&R in about 3 hours fishing.

Sunday I took one of my son's friends and her dog out for boat ride and fishing. Used the F7 chrome flatfish and also a silver dodger with wooly bugger on short leader. The dodger and wooly bugger combo was the hot ticket again trolled at about 1.5 - 1.6. We had so many trout hit the wooly bugger they tore it to shreds leaving only a small bit of green/gold hackle remaining on the hook (and they were still hitting it with just this little bit of material left). Thanks to the friendly fellow camper/angler that put me onto this effective combo. The wooly bugger was a green/gold body with a bit of tan fur sticking out the tail end. Also had 30+ fish all C&R on Sunday.

Saw several osprey picking fish out of the lake and a few deer along the edges. Also heard from another angler that a moose was swimming in the lake just before I got on the water Friday AM. Saw lots of what turned out to be moose hair floating on the surface of the lake and was wondering what it was until these guys told me about the moose.

Sorry, no pics...too busy catching to fetch the camera Friday and didn't have it with me Sunday.

Glad you had a great weekend in Eastern WA. I assume the Fish Princess had a blast?

Fish Princess did have a blast although it was not fishing. She was content to sleep-in a bit, play with her pals, swim, and shop in Winthrop with her mom and brothers this trip.
