With one more day off before having to do ten days in a row, I saw the nice weather reports and talked my wife into getting up at 4am to go fish Lake Stevens. I figured a couple days after the Derby the lake hopefully had calmed down from the weekend pounding and the fish would be ready to go.
JoAnn and I were twenty fish short of our limits...
In a word, it was really tough out there today. We had no action despite lots of gear changes, speed and depth changes, coffee breaks, pee breaks. In short, I tried everything I could to get the koks to bite but they would have nothing of it. Frustrating as always, and the fish finder was marking plenty of fish. Told some guys back at the launch I had kokanee gear for sale, but none of it works, LOL. Pretty much that was the consensus, except one old timer that had five when we gave up. Other than him and another angler that reported three caught, I saw no one else catching fish or nets in the air. I'm sure five minutes after I post this someone will report hot fishing with limits for their boat... at which point I may well sell my gear. :-)
Anyway, it was a beautiful day for a boat ride, as JoAnn said.
