The weather man had promised a warm, sunny day with temps soaring up into the 80s. I hitched up my small boat and headed for Jackson Lake. I was surprised to find 2 trout anglers fishing from the shoreline - and they were catching fish. They were nice friendly fellows and didn't complain when they had to reel in to let me launch. The wind was a problem part of the time and quite calm at other times. I was throwing a jig mostly but also tossed a spinnerbait, crankbait and a floating Rapala. I finally did catch a nice little largemouth on a the crankbait. It was a beautiful day on the lake with the red wing black birds singing, ducks hanging out on the docks and I even saw a muskrat. As I returned to the launch area, the first trout anglers had limited and left and 2 others were fishing - and they were catching too. The last couple were nice and friendly and also didn't complain when I beached my boat. As I came ashore, the lady asked if I was Bob. I had never seen her before and said, "You must read washingtonlakes.com. She said she did and also said that she went to school with Mike Carey. I suggested that she submit a report. She and her husband were catching and releasing trout. All in all, it was another very nice day on water.
Oh, if you are interested, check out my report on Jackson Lake on May 6, 2003. That was a nice fish.
