Fished the South end of Lake Washington off of Mercer Island today from my kayak. Started out at about 2:30 and fished until 4pm. I landed one beautiful 17'' trout (I think a rainbow, but similar to a cutthroat without the slash under the chin), and had 3 other drive-bys that spit the hook. All in all the lake seemed to be really fishy today. I was using leaded line with a sling blade and a #2 needlefish, tipped with small strips of herring fillets. I went out about 3 colors, so I am guessing about 20 feet down. Threw him on the BBQ and my three boys devoured it in minutes. It was a beautiful day to be out on the lake.

Nice cutt. Btw, its a cutt when as with this fish the jaw extends beyond the eye.
On bows the jaw ends even with the eye.
Also that slash under the jaw you were talking about is a dead give away.
Cutts and bows especially in big water and far from spawning colors look
A lot alike and most trout under these conditions tend to look
Like relativly nonspecific silvery trout.
