Well, my father in-law has been wanting to fish for some time but the weather has not been the best for him but today wa going to be nice so off we went to American. Arrived at 11 am or so lauched and headed over to north side and got set up. He did not want to fish for kokanee just trout and decided to long line it. No big deal got all set up and away we went. Slow no bites nada......nice sunshine keep at it and then wham the my pole starts bouncing fish on!! Jumping out of the water this fish was pissed, I took it nice and slow and my father in law was wow that is a big fish I am like yes it is now lets get it in the boat and presto......fish off. oh the sadness. Reset and off agian another hour goes by and nothing. I was marking fish so I change colors and fish starts the kokanee dance oh yes I was happy. Fish jumping all over the place put the tip in the water and keep the preassure on I can see it at the boat and presto again no joy...of and swimming. Oh now I was pissed....but hey that's fishing right. Well reset and 30 min later the rod starts the dance agian pulls the release from the DR and this one is not jumping oh......so I keep the line low and slow took my time and yes got one in the boat and a nice one at that. Father in law says hey thats a hog why am I fishing for trout I said well you wanted to..lots of laughing... Reset and a few minutes later another take down pull from the release and all of a sudden snap, I lost the whole set up and the fish, it was my only pink splatter back dodger that I have had for some time...and my lure from Toni, oh not good. Well we keep fishing for a few hours and nothing so we headed back to the launch pulled in my lines got the DR ball up and removed the ball and went to set the wire like I always do and the snap falls off, oh the luck today. No big deal at this point pretty easy fix at least I did not loose a ball. Then reach down and unplug it and one of the pins falls off....oh what a day not reall lucky and well the father in law is enjoying my fish for dinner so he's happy. I hope to get him out agian later this week. Tight lines...

Oh I was fishing on the DR at 30 ft split with two poles, dodger pink splatterback and Toni's wana fish Red ring with brass hammer. and the magical corn.....

Glad you got some fish for your father in law. You have now spoiled his culinary pallet ; them kokanee are good eats.
Oh man I hate losing tackle! I bought a new kokanee setup this winter at the Portland show and promptly lost it first time in the water hooked on a No-Wake float.....rats! Just glad you didn't lose the ball too.

That's a nice fat one for dinner. Only thing worse than losing tackle is losing the stuff that's working that day. How was the boat and jet ski traffic with the sun out ? I am going to try some lures I just made tomorrow hopefully one of em will catch me some of that.

Do you mean a Bloody Mary? Thanks for the report.
I had a few problems yesterday myself with lots of missed opportunities to get a limit at a different lake.

Toni, yes that is the one had to check your web page for it. I can never remeber there names, but I know what they look like and alway try to have at least one extra. I really enjoy using your lures they have a way of charming fish to bite!! I was also using the glided lily but no takers on that day. I hope to hit the water sometime tomorrow.

FishinMarine, the boat traffic was slow for the day I was suprised and the ones there were there stayed on the other side of the lake. As the day ended for us there was one that got close but that was it. Only two jet ski's the last hour and they to stayed away. Good luck.

I went out yesterday morning and it was slow for everyone. Ended up getting two between 15" and 16" but that was it in 4 hours.
