Every trip starts with preparation. I hooked up my boat the night before and walked by a tire on the trailer to see it was ballooned out. My neighbor had given me some tires he couldn’t use that I kept just in case. So I took off the bad one. Then thought I might as well put both of the spares on. Off came the other tire as well. But danged if I wasn’t having problems getting it on. I look at it and find that there are only 4 holes not 5. Geeze! Well it is what it is. A white wheel and a rusty wheel.
The next morning, Mothers Day, I started fishing about 6am and finished about 8:30 with a limit of 4 kokanee and 1 trout. It was bigger than the kokanee. They wanted the pink splatter combo today, Dick Nite Dodger and Wannafish A Lure.
There were lots of biters and a few lost. The trout were hitting the stacked rod so I put a 1/2oz weight on it and long lined it. Of course I had to get past the rainbows and one fish I wanted to see before getting the net, because of the rainbows, was a kokanee. I could see it and my dodger then I saw it start to swim ahead of the lure and it just swam away. My last kokanee came on the long lined rod at only 25 pulls back.
I caught them all between 20-24 feet. I fished all over the west half of the lake. My brother was the first on the lake and he, with pink pole, finished with their limit of 9 trout and 1 kokanee the same time I did.
It was clear when I got to the lake but the clouds came in to make it mostly cloudy. The water was calm with the surface temp was 58.5 degrees. It later cleared up and the next 3 days are supposed to be dry and warm.
