Two of us got on the lake at about 8:30am in a drift boat and hooked up on a 12" rainbow about 9:30. I was trolling an olive egg sucking leach with a full sinking line and down on the bottom. Things went quiet till about 1:00 when my partner was reeling in to remove the weight off his sink tip line when a very nice rainbow took hold. It was a nice female about 16" with a belly full of eggs. She was caught on a black wooly bugger with the line about 8-10 feet down.
We did see one nice fish on the east shore just about 75 yards out from the ramp. I was casting toward the road and stripping in the egg sucking leach when I notice a nice 14 to 16 incher following the fly. Tried all I could to make it look inviting but no bite.
We felt it a pretty good day for our first time on the lake and trying to learn about the lake and general conditions. Spent most of our time trolling quite slowly and was very surprised when the big gal munched the wolly bugger on the fast reel up.
