Only 4 other rigs in the lot when I launched. Not like last week. I got my first kokanee a little before 6am. I had only been on the water maybe less than a half hour when I got it. There was a breeze but not too bad. After getting that fish on my top stacked line at 17 feet I circled around but no other takers. I headed toward the north side of the island. My back was hurting so I placed a call to my chiropractor to leave a message. While I was leaving the message I had a takedown. I almost forgot my phone number during the message. That was 6:05am. I thought this is way better than last time out. I went back and forth here but again, no other takers so I go north toward the big boat launch. Nothing. Then the wind kicked up. I had a hard time so I pulled everything up and headed toward the launch. At the south end of the island toward the launch it wasn’t as bad so I put everything back in. Trolled awhile and thought I am just going to go in. I headed in a straight line toward the launch and after a few minutes had a take down at 22 feet. The fish went ballistic, jumping, I put the rod in the water in hopes of keeping it in the water. It had other ideas. When it got close to the boat it almost jumped into the boat. It jumped toward me in between the downrigger cable and the boat. My boom is only 24 inches. Then it did a run, I thought it was going to get in the cable but it didn’t and I got it in the net. Whoa that was exciting. I trolled around there for about 15 minutes more and called it quits at 8:30am.
All caught on Dick Nite dodgers and Wannafish A Lures Gilded Lily at 17 and 22 feet.
