I would like to thank Mike Carey for organizing the Kokanee event at Lake Chelan this past weekend. It was my first trip to Chelan and I can sum up my experience with one word - "Epic". My fishing partner, Darren and I had an outstanding experience and ended up with 24 Kokanee in the box!!!
Day 1-Friday, May 2nd: Launched at 5:30 A/M spent most of the day trying to learn the lake and tackle to use. We had a couple takedowns and ended up landing my personal best; a 19 ½ inch Kok.
Day 2-Saturday, May 3rd: Was at the boat launch at sunrise, and the wind was blowing pretty good. Darren and I debated on whether to launch or not and after about 15 minutes, we decided to go for it. We fished the entire day and as the winds continued to build, so did the bite. We ended up with 18 decent Koks.
Day 3-Sunday, May 4th: We fished from 6:00 to 10:30 A/M caught 5 Kokanee.
Most fish were caught between the Old Mill Boat Launch and the Blue Roofed Condos using Pink and Orange Mini-hoochies and smaller Dick Nite and Arrowflash Dodgers.
