Drove up to the Mill Bay launch, what a nice facility. Paid the ten bucks to launch and park, boy was the wind blowing! Put the boat in and about got beat to death; be sure to put on the bumpers as it's wood on the side of the dock! Parked the truck way up in the parking lot as the Washington Lakers had come out in force. Walked back down to the dock and Brick was hanging on for dear life to the boat. I tried to get in only to discover water on the floor in the back of the boat...not good...oh my gosh the plug was laying in the splash well from being removed the day before!!!!!! Quick, run for the truck; yeh right; my rebuilt heart works good but not for that. Got to the truck without having a heart attack and rushed back to take the boat out. I added a power winch to my roller trailer a year ago and boy was I glad to have it. Managed to get the boat back on the trailer and drained who knows how much water out of it...at least four or five hundred pounds worth...maybe more!
Decided not to go back on Chelan. Went to check out Wapato lake for some trout. Beautiful lake close by that had some nice fat trout. Managed to get a treble hook buried in the back of my arm...ouch! Thanks Brick for the almost painless removal. Caught a limit on the Perch Kekeda fly and a baby bass Rippin Minnow trolled at three colors and 30' respectively. Nice fat fish to about 15" with beautiful red meat.
Now for the Washington Lakes sponsored pot luck. You never saw a pot luck like this at the church picnic. Randy and his wife cooked fish tacos and marinated beef...WOW yummy thanks so much to you! The gang brought lots of other great stuff including salmonberrys wonderful salmon spread and Lox. Fish dawg and the fish princes made a Duch oven blue berry desert...life is tough but someone has to do it!
Many thanks to Washington Lakes Mike Carey, his wife Jo Ann, Aaron and many others who put this together. It was top notch to say the least. We got some great tackle provided by the sponsors Heavy Beads, Fishing With Gary (FWG), Wanna Fish A Lure, and Mack's Tackle. Thank you all so much for your participation and the lovely gifts of tackle and support for our fishing community.
Woke up to no wind Sunday so had breakfast and went to Mill Bay to launch again.....no fire drill this time. Finally caught my first lake Chelan Kokanee right before time to go home; what a great day on the water with other folks from the WL community.
Tight lines everybody, you are great friends,
Alan
