I think I've fished my home town lake of Moses lake more since I moved 100 miles away to Union Gap by Yakima than when I lived in the Basin! It's ironic that I feel nostalgic for my old stomping grounds, as the walleye fishing has been awesome so far this spring, with 8 fish limits for for me and my friends Charlie Liebert, Jason Sappenfield (Tanner212), Gordy Chin and Harry Collier. The best part has been consistantly getting fish on jigs, namely dark colored 3" Kalins grubs with bright colored 1/4 oz. jig heads. I've even been nailing fish on my custom poured 3.5" sculpins and 3" goby baits as well .We have put nearly 75 keeper sized walleyes in the boat in 4 trips over the past week. The key is finding the warmer water in the 60 degree range. Gordy Chin of Yakima had never jigged for walleye until I took him out and he just put on a clinic, including hooking fish near 5 pounds. Harry Collier of Yakima and I just had an epic day and caught some 50 or so fish , both smallies and tons of legal sized walleye with a few real pigs in the mix to 6 pounds. I'll post photos when I get my pics for a future report. Key depths have been stained water edges in 7 to 10 feet, subtle ledge drop offs primarily at the rocky South end of the lake with South winds and walleye chop. It's just going to get better from Mother's day on...Hope to see you on the water brothers.
