Put the canoe in Ballinger today to see if I could catch a few trout. Immediately realized the wind was a little much for my flat bottomed canoe. Paddled around for a while then decided to troll a small trout rapala so that as I was being blown around I wouldn't have to worry as much about getting hung up during rapid changes of direction (unintentional). Trolled back and forth against the south shore and was being hit constantly. The wind made it really hard as I would hook a fish, grab my rod and as soon as I put the paddle down would be blown all over the place. Lost seven fish and landed two in 2 hours of fishing. Finally gave up despite the bite, it took me 1/2 hour to paddle from the south shore back to the launch. At one point seriously considered hitting the shore and walking it back along the golf course. Got my work out for the day anyway. Saw lots of nice structure, anyone know about bass in Ballinger?

There are some good size bass in ballinger but you will have to sort through some dinks before getting that ok 2-3 pounder.

I was out monday with my friend. Might have seen you. We had fish left and right on that south side but lost most of them. Almost lost another round of pop gear because the damned winds blew the boat and line into the lovely downed tree stumps etc. Spoke to a few regulars at the dock who have concluded the same thing as I have. Not many fish near the dock. And if you do find any they are smaaaaaaaaaallllll.

I was the green canoe going around in circles, trying not to get in the way of the other boat, which must have been you lol!
