Fished hard for pike from about 7:30am till 5:30pm prefishing for next weekends tournament. We dodged a lot of boats from the ongoing bass tournament. Man, some of those guys have no fishermans edicate (spelling). We had one guy pull up about 50 feet from us and cut off the shoreline we were fishing. Had to play leapfrog with him. I fired up the big motor and moved around him by about 40 feet and cut him of the same way he did to me. He must have gotten the picture since he then turned and went down the shoreline where I had just been. I understand it's everybodys lake and I understand competition but that was a little too close for me.
As for the pike fishing, we hit several mid lake bays with only a few non agressive bites and no hookups. Moved farther south and managed 2 small pike in the 24" range and the dandy squaw fish in the photo that hit a rapala x rap. Weed growth is defenitely happening in the main lake but they are real short right now. 2 or 3 weeks of sunshine should have them up and producing good cover for the fish. Water temps were from 44 to 50 degrees. Water is still a little cloudy in creek fed bays and better others.
