American Lake report for Apr 13, 14 2014
I went out with Glen and Cami of F24 with Jim at 6 am and we had to quit just before 10am because I had to go to work. They caught 3 kokanee and 4 or 5 rainbows. I had one bite but it was a 100 percent conversion into my icebox. I had Glen put bait on my hook (cigar smoke from 4-5 report) but that didn’t help at all.
I wanted to make kokanee pizza with the fish I caught. Jim, Glen and Cami’s guest gave me one of his kokanee for my neighbor at the end of the morning after I told them how much they like kokanee. Later when I asked her if she wanted one she said “is the Pope catholic?”
So why is it that I couldn’t catch more kokanee using the same lure, same depth, same bait, same boat and same set back. Well I don’t know!!! How much difference does a dodger make?
So I went out in my 12 footer on the 14th of April. I had one in the boat after about 15 minutes of fishing. After about an hour I changed the lure on my top (stacked) rig and within 5 minutes I had a trout on it. A bit after that I got my second kokanee. I left about 9 after starting around 6:30am. My battery doesn’t seem to last as long as it use to.
Both days were sunny and calm. Sunday the 13th there were a lot more boats on the water. The air temp, at start, was about 38. The fish were caught at 17 feet down the first day. The next day I caught them at 27 and 30 foot down on the downrigger. They were about 14 inches long and 4 inches wide. All kokanee both days were caught on Wannafish A Lures Gilded Lily. When Glen told me they had lots of missed fish on Saturday I tied up Gilded Lilies with treble hooks. I used Dick Nite dodgers. My hook to boat ratio was 100%.
We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.
