SUMMARY: One 9 inch perch caught in 8 hours of fishing while trolling with an orange-and-green, tiger-striped Luhr Jehnsen spoon.
DETAILS: Started fishing at 6:30 a.m. mild drizzle to full sun for weather as the day progressed -- only saw four other boats on the lake throughout the course of the day. Most fisherman here on McMurray had no luck. One fisherman caught a rainbow trout using a worm 200 yards to the NE of the boat launch (around 8:45 a.m.). Tried several different methods myself (still-fishing, trolling, casting & jigging with flatfish of all sizes and colors, pop-gear, power bait, crave bait, spinners, plugs, buzz bombs, spoons). None of these methods worked.
ANALYSIS: The trout I did see were feeding at the top of the lake early, when the water was still. Had I been better prepared, I would have used a fly fishing set-up, which might have been more effective.
