A friend and I went to Heart lake at about 1:30pm. We trolled
cray fish and grass hopper lures and knocked em dead. These fish
hit very hard and put up a great fight. Every fish felt like a
lunker. Others were trolling flies and misc lures with no luck.
We saw a couple of boats with fish on using what appeared to be
power bait. This lake produced good fishing and the key was finding
the color and action that interested the fish which we were able to
do right off the bat. The fish finder was also a great help as we
just kept trolling over the schools of fish receiving numerous strikes
and 9 fish in about three hours. Because our lures had small treble hooks
we missed several strikes and had three up to the boat before they
spit the hook and swam away. All were in the half pound range
and about 12 to 14 inches.
