I had a few hours off from work on Wednesday and decided it was too pretty out to not fish a bit. So...I loaded up my boat and went down to the Mercer Island launch and set sail.

I went to the South end of the lake by the Cedar river and anchored up in about 45 ft of water. I basically saw large schools of fish in that depth on the bottom and figured it was perch, but I wanted to try anyway. I ended up drop shotting a little green power grub tipped with nightcrawler and proceeded to have hit after hit for 3 straight hours. At the end of the day... I must have caught 45-50 Squawfish. most of them were 12-15 inchers, but I got one about 20 inches..... Happy to report those fish are no longer swimming and the Eagles are very happy! I also caught one trout by happenstance. It was about 15". Pictured with this report. I let the trout go. She must have spawned because it was thin for the length. The season is here again where at least we can catch fish and not be lifting our frozen shoes from the deck. Lol.

Yep, skinny fish, nipped tail, looks like a post spawn specimen. Nice job with the squaws.
