Fished Chitwood today from 3:00pm to about 6:30pm. The weather was primarily overcast, with rain showers coming through every now and again. As soon as I got to the lake I saw lots of fish rising and there was also a pretty good amount of insect activity. As such, I tried throwing flies for a bit, but I think everything that I had was too big and or just didn't look right seeing as I didn't get any hits at all. I then switched to a small gold colored sinking Rapala, again with no luck. After that I went with salmon eggs under a bobber, which was definitely the ticket for today. I had no problem catching fish with that setup and ended up keeping one nice sized Cutthroat.

It definitely helped! Unfortunately the last time I was there I didn't have any floats that would allow me to toss the eggs very far. This time out I had some of those bubble floats you can fill with water and had no problem casting a good ways. I then ran into the issue of the little guys nailing the eggs before anything big could come along. Next time I'm going to try using some spawn sacks to keep the little guys away per a suggestion from the forums.
