I met Glen and Cami of F24 at the WDFW launch at 8am. We started fishing about 8:30 Cami said. I thought it was closer to 9am. I had 3 rods I was trying to gear up and Glen was in the water first. At my suggestion he went down 17 feet. Shortly after he was in and before I finished he got his first kokanee. He got it on an old Wannafish A Lure Squiddy Thang Pink with an aged brass blade. It was dull with some green spots on it. He used a mooching 000 dodger with it. Hook points were tipped with Berkeley maggots.
I got my gear in and had one on not to long after that. Mine was on a Gilded Lily and a Dick Nite 50/50 dodger. Then after a bit of time Glen got another one on a Green Ice. Awhile after that I hooked one on the Gilded Lily but it was lost on the way into the boat while we tried to move the long line rod. We quit at 12:30. The fish ranged from 13 to just under 15 and really chunky.
I sent the thermometer down to 17 feet and it was 46. Surface got to 48. It was close to freezing this morning but only a breeze on the lake toward afternoon. Otherwise it was sunny. I think we caught the fish in 50-70 feet of water but I wasn’t paying that much attention. We got all the fish in different areas.
We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.
