We were 2 of 5 fisherman today, out of Jerry's Landing. The ice was over 14 inches thick. The tough part was getting onto the ice from shore. We fished our usual area, 200 yds. north of Jerry's. We used small jigs and maggots. I had a fish finder and my mother-in-law forgot hers. We drilled 4 holes and fished those plus one already open. It was a while before we had any activity. I had just changed to Berkeley Power Bait. Within 2 minutes I caught a nice fat (pregnant) female. We fished for nearly 5 hours. I landed 1 crappie that was 1/8" short of 9" and a total of 4 perch. I missed several. I had several fish follow and watch but not bite, no matter what I tried. My mother in-law had 1 fish nearly to the surface before losing it. She also missed some good hard bites. This is probably our last trip of the year. There is plenty of ice but getting onto the ice is a bit of a challenge. I am guessing that by next weekend that the weeks worth of above freezing temperatures that the gap between the shore line and the ice will grow. There is plenty of ice for a few more weeks of ice fishing if you can get on it.
