Bright sun but a little bit of a breeze when we headed out. Got to the lake about 11:00. Was expecting to have an earily lunch before launching but the restaurant was closed. Boat launch is very steep and curved have to back down in an S pattern. Either side of the concrete has huge quarry rocks. Looks as though who ever built this access point missed the lake by about thirty feet being that there is another set of concrete strips like the ramp up hill but not in line with the roadway ? Only limited parking maybe six trailers.
First time we came to this lake we camped at the resort and caught plenty of small fish off their dock. Evidently the fish planting truck had just dropped off a load just before we drove up. Either pulled up a fish or some weeds every cast.
Next time it was summer rented a spot, got the tent set up, laid down for a nap, got stung by a bee. Got up to hear other campers kids screaming from being stung also. Apparently one the neighbors had taken up bee keeping and the resort was swarming with them. Short stay for us.
Couple men fishing off the launch said they hadn't caught anything out of this lake for quite a while. Wind picked up considerable once we got out on the water. Blew Jeanie's hat off did manage to catch it before it sank. By the topo map figured to stay out deep enough to avoid the weeds. Learned twenty-five feet is not deep enough to stop the bottom from being all weeds. Flags got to standing straight out. Water was near up to whitecaps. Having to strip weeds off the line every cast finger numbing. Maybe when the water warms up try bobbers. Got blown clear across the lake then barely gaining headway against the wind electric motoring back. Never did see a fish. Froze out. Was back to Shelton at the Pine Tree enjoying their excellent oyster plate before one. Didn't drown many worms this trip.
