Had a tough day fishing on 4th! Had some bites and saw some fish on the ice.
The first bite of the day for me was a whopper though! pole bent over to the ice and down the hole it went!
So it was hand lining the rest of the day for me (which is actually pretty fun).
A couple that is new to ice fishing tagged along with us and caught a 3.5lb hen. Really nice fish, and what a way to start out ice fishing. Well time for me to go to the store for a new ice pole and maybe some string to tie it off to my chair this time.

Happy fishing all!

P.S. the ice is still very thin on the north edge of the lake so be careful!
With this cooling weather trend this week, ice should be safe again.

That actually happened to me 4-5 times when I went to fourth my first time. I'd get a hit, and the fish would take off with it. The only way I saved it was throwing myself across the slippery ice to grab a hold of it each time. Something that helped was loosening the drag a little making it so that if a fish does take it, it can just take line off the reel. Hope that's somewhat helpful.

Where is the best place to fish on the lake

Fishing the shallow water is always best. 3-6ft. Sounds crazy but it's true. Fishing close to the edges of the Lake is good but be very careful cause the ice is thinner closer to shore.

Is the entire lake frozen over, or are there places to do some bank fishing? And if I was to do some bank fishing, is there a slim chance of catching fish?

I'm from the west side and just moved over here this year for school and I have the itch to go fishing something fierce! We don't have the "frozen" lake problem where I'm from. I guess it might be a blessing if you are ice fishing though lol

Thanks for any input guys, I appreciate it.
