Saturday morning after a sleepless night in the motel and cleaning fish at a cleaning station with the water turned off Thursday night, I headed to the store up the road to have coffee and a nice gut sticking satisfying breakfast headed back to the Lind Coulee Arm for some more Perch and Walleye plus I was hoping for a Burbot or even a Channel Cat. What a different day bright and sunny. The sun sure made a difference on breaking the wet chill.

Got On the water about 10 after several cups more of coffee. headed around to the spot I was at the afternoon before. Dropped my copper 3g Swedish Pimple down and right away I started catching small Walleye (under 12"). I was concerned, the first couple of fish I caught I noticed the bladder expanded in the mouth. I started bring them up slowly and it helped. The Walleye that the bladder did expand that were under 12" did swim back down towards the bottom (not sure what happens to them over time).

Around 11 am the bite really turned on. I would catch Perch for a while the I would catch Walleye for a while. Always seemed to be slight time span between species. I bet I caught 30 Walleye before I got my limit. Also I got my 25 Perch. I kept all the Perch I caught, they ranged from 6" to 10" and all of them the bladder was expanded.

All and all and was happy about the trip and I will be back very soon. Although Mardon needs to upgrade the motel and put in TVs. Call me a wiener but I was ready to watch some games and relax. Not crash at 7pm. I did like the resort itself and the tackle shop.

P.S. I used Perch eyes on my Swedish Pimple as soon as I caught a Perch.

glad you had a good time. I was also surprised at no TV in the rooms at Mardon. I understand they do in the cottages that sleep a few more people. I would also like to try to catch a burbot or a catfish at lind coulee. If you go back maybe try a small herring or smelt either right on the bottom or 6 inches off, and just let it sit there. if you have a two pole endorsement, you can jig in one hole and bait fish on the other. that's how we used to catch burbot occasionally when I was growing up in Alberta. Back then you could have 3 holes ice fishing. I've had the burbot cruise by and get all three smelt in its mouth before I noticed the tip ups were popped. I may not make it back this season so may be I can live vicariously through you.
