I was a bit lazy this morning so I got started a bit late.Ii wanted to try out my new anchor locks on my boat but I was worried it would be too cold and uncomfortable so i drug my feet a little. As a result didn't end up getting to Leland till 11:30. I needn't have worried. It was as perfect a day for November 27th as you could get. Almost no wind and sunny in the 50's
what I really wanted was to catch some perch or panfish but I know that I'll get a reply form someone that it's way too late in the year for that so I'll say I was after rainbows. I did mess around trying to figure out how to tie my own slip bobber knot. and played with that for a couple of hours but no bites.
I decided to would troll for rainbows just for fun on the way to another location to try for perch. On my way there I got enough bites I decided I was really after rainbows. They were chunky, scrappy and 12 to 14 inches long. I caught 5 total; turned all but one of them back. I caught them all on small flatfish; F4 and F5, yellow/orange and black dots, and chartreuse with green stripes respectively, with 1/4 to 3/8 oz weight to take them down a little.
One of them was heavily spotted even on the belly. it reminded me of pictures of Leopard trout. All in all I'm glad I went.
