Started fishing for pike on Cda Lake yetserday at 10:20am. By 10:40 we had 6 in the boat. We hit a little dry spell for about an hour but when we rotated back to the hot location in our drift we got back into them and they didn't stop biting all day. My step son released 11 pike and I released 31! Before that my personal best was 24 in a single day. These things were absolutely on fire. Much like the previous post from dblood, we would sometimes have multiple fish trying to hit the bait at the same time. I got one fish on the perch pattern x rap and all others were caught on soft plpastic frogs.
Unlike my earlier reports where the fish were only hanging on the outside of the weedlines, on this day they were on the edges, in the middle, and everywhere in between. Water temps were 45 to 48 degrees. A slow presentation did the best for us.
These fish were not monsters. Most were in the 23 to 24 inch range and the one in the photo was right at 30". An odd note for these fish is that a lot of them would hit the bait and once they were hooked, they would roll up in the line and have no fight left in them at all. How ever, the strikes were viscious and we had a blast!
We got a ton of short strikes. If you're going to fish for these fish with soft plastic frogs, I recommend taking a lot of frogs with you. At the end of the day, I threw away at least 10 baits that had one leg and even both legs bitten off when the fish never got hooked. The pike love them some frog legs I tell ya!
Pike are really in the fattening up mode right now. All for our fish were C&R'd to fight again another day!!
The weather was OUTSTANDING! Clouds burned off by 11am the the sun shined all day. This was certainly a blessed day to remember for a long time.

Love the way pike hit on top. Hate those teeth marks! Which frogs were you using? They used to have these ugly frogs, hard as a rock, with wire frames in them, years ago in North Dakota. You couldn't get a bass past its laughter to bite one, but the pike would just attack one after the other, and they lasted usually right up to where a muskie would shred 'em. Once caught 2 small ones, one on each frog hook. They didn't fight much, cause they were so jammed together!

Is this another report from another state other than WASHINGTON?

Yes,
Coeur d'Alene (Kootenai County) Idaho. The Kalispel Tribe and the WDFW have euthanized 99% of the pike in Washington so if we want to catch pike we have to do it in Idaho or some other state.
