I'm not even sure what to say after yesterday. Fished from about 10:30 to 5:00 or so yesterday on CDA Lake. Didn't look like I was going to get out fishing anymore this year so I took a vacation day and headed to the lake just to get out one last time.

After fishing for about 30 minutes and catching 3 pike before I made it 100 yds from where I launched I decided to start texting updates to a co-worker to subtly (or not so subtly) remind him that I was out fishing while he was working. I figured it was only fair as I was the recipient of many lobster pictures the week before while he was in Maine. :)

The updates started when I landed fish #3 and ended when I landed pike #55 and decided to head to the dock. It was absolute insanity. I woke up this morning and have a large bruise on my side where I hold the butt of the rod when I set the hook, lol. For most of the day, the water was calm and I was able to see probably 90% of them hit the lure. On two different occasions I watched 4 pike come out from different direction to attack the lure.

After I landed my 40th pike, I decided to use the infamous Banjo Minnow that my friend had bought me a couple years ago and we often joke about . (the same friend I was texting updates to) In 10 casts I boated 8 pike on it. I was thinking about putting my roast beef sandwich on a hook as it probably would have caught a fish on this day.

No fish were very big...most in the low/mid 20s with the largest being about 28" and a few in the upper teen/low 20 range. As I was heading to the dock, I had a 15#-20# range pike roll on my Banjo Minnow right in front of the boat, but she missed the hook. Took a few cracks at her and couldn't get her to come back.

Ended up catching about 10 on x-raps, 10 on banjo minnow and 35 on frogs. With no big fish on this trip, I thought I'd throw in a photo from a 42 1/2"er I caught a couple weeks ago.

Well well well, you are becomming quite the pike fisherman now aren't you, LOL
Nice going. You caught 2/3 of the fish I caught all year and you did it in one day. Be vewery quiet about where you got those fish. It's good to see you have the stellar day that I have been looking for all year. I sure hope that wasn't one of the roast beef sandwiches you were supposed to brign with you last weekend when you were going to fish with me. :)
Who would have ever thougth a guy could catch a pike on a frog bait?? I went out today and got a few but nothing like you got into. See my report for details.
