I haven’t got to fish American very much this year. Today I went with Kokanee_Slayer. We were on the water as it was getting light about 6:45am and the fog was enveloping the lake. We arrived at where he wanted to start and got hits quickly, then it slowed down. K_S got a vampire of 17.5 inches that gave him a good fight. He didn’t change his rig at all while I changed up a lot. He got another, brighter fish a little later. The fog did burn off to a wonderful sunny day. I put my last change of the day on, which was back to one of the first. The Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger and Wannafish A Lure Pink Splatter with corn and a pink maggot. Finally I got a nice one in. I think this is, by a little under an inch, the biggest I have put in a boat this year. Then I got another that K_S netted for me and tossed it from out the net right at me. Well he says he lost his balance and was trying to regain it. It was a rainbow. We left about noon. It was a great day on the water. The surface temp was 59-60 degrees.

We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.

I recently picked up a 12' aluminum boat and looking forward to getting out. Looking to get a down rigger to get down to the fish. Were you guys using down riggers?

All fish are kokanee's. One (both colored up are the same fish) more spawned out than the other. Meat shows that you can't always tell by the cover. All caught on American lake. Yes to downriggers at 30-35 feet cable.

dawgwe1, I used to have a 12ft Lund with a 15hp Merc, Electric Trolling Motor and 2 Cannon Easi-Troll Downriggers and that thing was a fish catching machine. With the exception of early spring, downriggers are almost a necessity to be effective at catching Koks.
