Went back out to American Lake this morning. Was on the water by 8:30. This time I was wearing my new PFD. Water temp was 65 degrees, down 5 degrees from this time last week. Never hooked a smallmouth until 10:15, but it was the biggest smallmouth I've caught this year, 4-2. After taking the photo and releasing it, I put my dropshot back down and immediately hooked my second smallie, which was close to 2 lbs. Caught one more in the pound range before loading up the boat.

Well, I don't know about fast action, but the 4 lber made my day. Obviously the bass in American eat well. Most of the bigger bass I catch in Tapps are long and lanky. American's smallmouth are built like footballs.

I've never been to American, maybe next year.
